Kindness Retreat

AN ACTION-PACKED PROGRAM FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

"I noticed kids wearing their kindness buttons and promoting kind acts toward other fourth grade students. It's these little things that are changing the climate in our building."
Paul Helberg, Dean of Students - Valley View Elementary School

Using the boomerang with elementary students

The "Kindness Boomerang" works just like the Golden Rule; treat others the way you want to be treated. If you want to be treated with kindness, you've got to throw the Kindness Boomerang and kindness can come back to you!

Elementary school students in grades four or five experience the positive effect of the Kindness Boomerang during a high-energy day with classmates and older student leaders. The Youth Frontiers Kindness Retreat helps build a more caring school climate by engaging students in activities that demonstrate the painful effects of bullying and emphasize the value of kindness.

What the Kindness Retreat will do

  • Create a more caring school climate.
  • Reduce bullying.
  • Connect your students with positive role models.

And it's working

According to data gathered through an independent study,

  • Sixty days after a the Retreat, more than 76% of participants thought their class was a kinder place.
  • Every teacher whose students participated in a Kindness Retreat rated the effect as "Very Positive" or "Mostly Positive."
