The Character Movement

Students high-fiving on a retreat

A new brand for the next phase of Youth Frontiers

If you are reading this blog post, you’ve probably noticed that something about our website looks different … We’ve rebranded! We’re really excited about it and wanted to give you some context for this change.

Our brand is our identity. It communicates who we are, what we do and why we do it. The heart of who we are has not changed, but what we do — and what we still aspire to do — has evolved. We’re developing new programming — for educators, for student leaders, for the broader community — to help realize our mission. Our new brand infrastructure helps reaffirm our identity and supports our continued innovation.

Part of that innovation is a restatement of our mission: to provide schools with experiences that inspire character, civility and community so that our next generation of leaders is grounded in character. Another piece of this change is our logo.

Youth Frontiers logos

Each component of our new logo (above) directly reflects our identity.

— The flag symbolizes “frontiers,” a word integral to our mission. The image of the flag you see is leaning forward, marking our growth and our expansion into new spheres of influence.

— The flag also stems directly from the Y, showing that our growth is always grounded in our mission to serve youth.

— Like the faces in our old mask logo, the offset brackets represent the way our retreats bring people together even when their perspectives and experiences don’t perfectly align. YF stands in the middle of these differing perspectives to help foster a place of greater community.

You’ll be seeing a lot more of our new brand in the weeks to come. We’re excited to move into the next phase of Youth Frontiers with our new look and with our continued commitment to students and educators. We’re 30 years old, and still growing. Thank you for partnering with us as we head into new frontiers. Together, we can be at the forefront of what matters and build communities where all can thrive.
